The Hall is a principal cultural and civic venue, operated in partnership with Theatr Clwyd. The study will appraise the existing venue and develop and compare options covering the audience journey, the auditorium, technical theatre, backstage, access and inclusion, heritage constraints, building services and operating implications, with broad cost ranges, phasing advice and delivery risks. The maximum budget for the Stage 1 core services is £50,000 including VAT. Quotations above this figure will be rejected. The study is funded by the Arts Council of Wales Arts Capital Investment Fund with match funding from the University, and must be complete by 19 February 2027. Quotations must be submitted through the Sell2Wales Tender Postbox by 12:00 noon on Friday 30 October 2026. Suppliers must be registered on the Central Digital Platform. Full requirements, the conditions of participation and the award criteria are set out in the RFQ document, the Pricing Schedule and the Project Brief attached to this notice. As part of the optional pricing the University is seeking prices for RIBA Stage 2 Concept Design. Any Stage 2 award is at the University’s discretion, subject to available funding, and the University reserves the right to pursue other procurement options.

Renewal: The Authority may, at its sole discretion, extend the contract once to appoint the same supplier to deliver RIBA Stage 2 Concept Design services for William Aston Hall. The Authority is under no obligation to do so and the supplier has no entitlement to be appointed for Stage 2. Any extension depends on satisfactory performance of the Stage 1 services, the availability of funding and the Authority’s internal approvals, and will be instructed in writing.
