Key information
Overview
In the work of the Department of Children, Disability and Equality (DCDE), a recurring gap has been identified in the capacity to support parents of children with additional needs and the practitioners who assist them. These gaps relate both to the availability of relevant parenting supports and practitioner training to respond to families with diverse and evolving needs. The purpose of this research is to 1. Identify the most helpful non therapeutic parenting supports for parents of children, up to 18 years, with additional needs throughout their journey 2. Identify training and supports that best equip practitioners to support parents of children with additional needs.
