Overview

The ConScience Plug’N’Teach quantum computer and its associated training offering are unique in the market because they combine, within a single integrated educational platform, superconducting quantum hardware, cryogenic infrastructure, quantum-control electronics, and an open system architecture specifically designed for teaching, evaluation, and hands on technology development. 1. Purpose-built superconducting quantum hardware The Qubit-in-a-Box 2 (QiB2) superconducting quantum chip is specifically designed for teaching, characterization, and evaluation of superconducting quantum devices. It incorporates both individual qubits and coupled qubit structures of different types, enabling experiments with progressively increasing levels of complexity. This makes the platform unique in the market and suitable for education ranging from bachelor’s and master’s courses to PhD-level training and research projects. Unlike systems primarily designed for remote quantum-computing access or narrowly defined research applications, the QiB2 provides direct experimental access to the underlying quantum hardware and its physical behavior. 2. Proven cryogenic infrastructure The system is based on dilution-refrigerator technology from Bluefors Oy, Finland, the leading supplier of cryogenic systems for superconducting quantum-computing applications. Bluefors has extensive experience in the installation and operation of dilution refrigerators in quantum research environments, providing a mature and reliable cryogenic foundation for both teaching and experimental work. 3. Integrated quantum-control platform The control electronics from Quantum Machines provide a native quantum-control environment purpose-built for quantum processors. The platform combines real-time orchestration with intuitive pulse-level programming, supporting both educational exploration and advanced research without requiring the customer to develop a custom control-hardware stack. This integrated approach is essential for maximizing the QiB2’s pedagogical value, enabling rapid iteration in university teaching and evaluation workflows, and establishing a robust foundation for future in-house hardware and software development. 4. Open architecture and comprehensive educational scope A key differentiator of the Plug’N’Teach system is its open architecture and the horizontal integration of leading component providers in superconducting quantum computing within a platform explicitly focused on education and workforce development. The system is designed not as a closed appliance, but as an environment in which students and researchers can access, understand, characterize, and modify multiple layers of the technology stack. Users are therefore able not only to operate a quantum computer, but also to study the interaction between quantum devices, cryogenic systems, control electronics, pulse sequences, calibration procedures, and software. They can develop their own hardware and software solutions and benchmark them against the reference configuration provided by the Plug’N’Teach system. This breadth is particularly important for quantum-workforce development. Building and operating quantum computers requires expertise extending well beyond PhD-level quantum physics and includes competencies in electrical engineering, microwave engineering, cryogenics, control systems, software development, calibration, system integration, operation, and maintenance. For these reasons, the distinguishing feature of the ConScience Plug’N’Teach solution is not only the single components in isolation, but the availability of this specific combination of purpose-built superconducting quantum hardware, established cryogenic infrastructure, native quantum-control electronics, open system access, and structured educational support in one integrated platform. To the best of our knowledge, no other supplier currently offers an equivalent complete system with the same combination of capabilities and educational scope.
