Key information
Overview
National Flood Forum for Wales, the Welsh Government is looking to establish an independent Welsh Flood Forum (WFF).
Procurement Act 2023
Direct award The NFF’s services differ to other charities. They provide ongoing, long-term support to communities who have been impacted by flooding. This long-term support differentiates them from other charities in this field, who tend to be focussed on helping communities during an event and in the immediate aftermath. NFF can help flooded communities in the long-term, whilst also helping them to prepare for future flooding events. In addition, the NFF is specifically qualified to deliver a Welsh Flood Forum (WFF) because the work will draw on its established operating model and experience of creating an independent flood forum. This follows the approach taken by the Scottish Government, which commissioned the NFF to establish the Scottish Flood Forum. The NFF’s role under this commission is specifically to assist Welsh Government in establishing an independent WFF. The commission is focused on interim support and organisational establishment and knowledge transfer to WFF.
