Overview

Scope of the Contract The scope of this Contract for the Sputtering tool  includes the following: For the execution of high-level scientific research within the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials, the availability of an advanced sputter deposition system is essential. This equipment enables the fabrication of high-quality thin films from a wide range of materials, including metals, alloys and insulating materials. Such thin films are essential for a broad range of research activities in the fields of nanotechnology, materials science and functional systems. The intended sputtering system will be integrated into the existing facilities of the Zernike Nanolab and must be suitable for use within a shared academic research environment. The system will be used for both routine deposition processes and advanced experiments requiring a high degree of process stability, reproducibility and material purity. This will enable the development and characterization of new material combinations, multilayers and structures, thereby contributing to the scientific output and research ambitions of the institute. In addition, the sputtering system will play an important role in the education and training of PhD candidates and students. Access to modern deposition equipment enables users to gain practical experience with thin-film technology and vacuum processes, thereby supporting the development of technical and scientific expertise within the organization. A minimum warranty period of three (3) years is included, covering defects in materials, workmanship and installation, including parts and labour, as well as timely remote and on-site technical support in the event of equipment malfunction. A service contract for at least three (3) years is included, covering preventive maintenance, calibration, software updates and technical support. User and technical staff training for safe and effective operation and basic maintenance of the system is included.
