The works involve the upgrade and refurbishment of two existing buildings at the Carna Research Station — the Marine Innovation Centre Building and the adjacent Administration Building — along with upgrade works to the seawater abstraction and treatment systems and yard area. Once complete, these facilities will form part of Nua Mara, Ireland's Marine Innovation and Development Centre, providing early-stage R and D space, pilot areas and concept- testing facilities for marine sector enterprises.
