The Supplier shall work in support of DTU activities, with particular emphasis on computer software development and maintenance. These tasks include, but are not limited to, the following: 1) Maintenance and further development of software applications included in WAsP Product Suite (Windows desktop software). 2) Maintenance, development and hosting of online services and systems associated with the WAsP Product Suite. 3) Maintenance and hosting of administrative and support tools used in the delivery of the WAsP Product Suite. 4) Provision of support and advice to DTU’s customers and students to facilitate the use of software and services. 5) Provision of advice, expertise and programming work in support of new software development at DTU. 6) Preparation of data, performance of calculations and auxiliary scientific research in support of DTU projects. The overall purpose of this purchase of IT Consultancy Services for DTU Wind (RAM software) is to ensure that the work efforts by the employees as well as the investments made by DTU Wind regarding software development have the best possible impact on our research and educational activities as well as on our value creation in the wind energy sector and society. Our software developments should be useful not only to the developers but also to internal colleagues and external partners, as well as to end-users in the wind energy industry.

During the past eight years, DTU Wind has been able to move a significant part of the IT work in-house (design, programming, maintenance and support of new RAM software). As such, the need for external consultancy services is reduced to a minimum where DTU does not have the required in-house resources or know-how (e.g. specific, technical insight and knowledge required for development and maintenance of existing RAM software). Examples of existing RAM software: • WAsP is the industry-standard PC software for wind resource assessment, siting and energy yield calculations for wind turbines and wind farms. WAsP is used for sites located in all kinds of terrain all over the world and includes models and tools for every step in the process from wind data analysis to calculation of the energy yield for a wind farm. More than 7000 WAsP licenses have been sold in more than 100 countries. • WAsP Engineering is the industry-standard PC software for calculation of wind conditions, which are relevant for fatigue loads, extreme loads and siting of wind turbines and wind farms. WAsP Engineering is used for sites located in all kinds of terrain all over the world and includes models and tools for every step in the process from wind data analysis to calculation of the wind conditions for a wind farm. Almost 1000 WAsP Engineering licenses have been sold in about 50 countries. In addition to WAsP and WAsP Engineering, the RAM software also comprises several other tools and utilities used by many every day. As the WAsP and WAsP Engineering software has been developed during many years, it is mainly based on older software technology and it needs to be sup-ported by this purchase of IT Consultancy Services. In the future, DTU Wind is moving in a more modern web-based direction: • A modular (open API) and cross-platform (device and web) approach to software. • Sets of web services to give users opportunities to test aspects of new functionality and give feedback before integration into the main software. These web services are intended for educational and dissemination purposes. • Enterprise implementation of web services that are not necessarily Windows-hosted. This work will mainly be carried out by in-house resources at DTU Wind. RAM software utilises new knowledge from university research to bring value, understanding and engagement to fit wind energy sector needs. The software is easy to use and integrate into cross-platform (device and web) applications.
