Overview
Inland Fisheries Ireland seeks to procure multidisciplinary consultancy services to support the delivery of the River Dodder Barrier Mitigation Project. Services will include feasibility assessment, options selection, preliminary design, environmental assessment, and preparation of planning documentation for six weirs on the River Dodder, Dublin. Inland Fisheries Ireland, through its Barrier Mitigation Programme, is progressing the River Dodder Barrier Mitigation Project. The project aims to improve fish passage and river connectivity along the River Dodder, a heavily modified urban watercourse flowing through Dublin City and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. Six existing weirs have been identified for assessment under this stage of the project: The appointed Consultant will undertake all necessary engineering, environmental and planning services required to progress the project through feasibility, option selection, and statutory consent stages in accordance with the Planning and Development Acts 2000–2023, the Capital Works Management Framework, and Infrastructure Guidelines 2023. The project forms a specific action under Ireland’s Water Action Plan 2024 and supports implementation of the National Barrier Mitigation Programme to deliver improved ecological status under the EU Water Framework Directive.
