Key information
Overview
The proposed barrier mitigation project at Castlecor Weir recently received planning consent from Meath County Council (REF No. 25/61212) and involves the full removal of a weir structure and significant river restoration works over a distance of approximately 400m. IFI plans to undertake the construction phase of the project during the fisheries environmental window between 1st July and 30th September 2026. The site is located upstream of an SAC (Lough Sheelin) and suitable environmental mitigation measures outlined in the ECIA/NIS must be incorporated in the works by the appointed Consultant.
