Overview

The Irish Heritage Trust (IHT) is seeking a qualified contractor to supply, install, and commission a high-efficiency low-carbon heating solution at Fota House, Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork. This project is part of a wider sustainability initiative to replace the existing obsolete oil-fired heating system with a renewable bivalent solution while strictly adhering to the conservation requirements of a protected heritage property. The scope of works includes: • Heat Pump Installation: Supply and installation of three (3) 50 kW R290 air-to-water monoblock heat pumps. • Bivalent System Integration: Modifying the existing piping network to integrate the new heat pumps with the recently installed natural gas (NG) condensing boilers, which will remain for peak-load and backup support. • Ancillary Components: Installation of a 1000L buffer tank, new pumps, mixing valves, magnetic filters on each circuit, and flow/return headers. • Controls and BMS: Complete integration of the heat pump system with the existing Building Management System (BMS), including the installation of internal control modules (e.g., NeoBox) for real-time demand management and digital monitoring. • Metering: Installation of MID-approved energy meters (heat and electrical) as specified in the technical designs. • System Refurbishment: Targeted replacement of specific underground radiant coils and modification of high-risk sections of the existing heating infrastructure.
