Direct award The justification that applies is Schedule 5, Paragraph 6: The following conditions are met in relation to the public contract- (a)due to an absence of competition for technical reasons, only a particular supplier can supply the goods, services or works required, and (b)there are no reasonable alternatives to those goods, services or works. Bloomberg Finance LP is a sole supplier of Bloomberg Professional Software. This is the main financial trading software used globally and is the most commonly used with HE on related programmes. A Bloomberg lab allows UUBS to integrate cutting-edge financial tools into the curriculum, enhancing the relevance and rigor of finance, economics, and business programs. This strengthens the school's ability to deliver high-quality, industry-relevant education, which is a key AACSB criterion. Bloomberg software is embedded throughout undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education programmes within Finance, Economics and related Business disciplines. The teaching materials, practical exercises, assessment activities and student employability initiatives have been developed around Bloomberg functionality and datasets over a number of years. Academic staff have received specialist training to deliver Bloomberg-based teaching. The Bloomberg platform is recognised internationally as the industry standard for financial data, market analysis, portfolio management and trading applications. Access to Bloomberg terminals enables students to develop practical skills aligned to current industry practice and supports the School's strategic objectives relating to graduate employability, student recruitment and external accreditation.
